Lucas Oil Speedway plays host to Summit USRA Nationals this week

WHEATLAND, MO. (Sept. 16, 2024) - What has become an annual fall gathering of United States Racing Association drivers in five divisions from all over the country returns to Lucas Oil Speedway this week.

The Summit USRA Nationals kicks off its festival with a test and tune session on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m, followed by full racing programs each night from Wednesday through Saturday. This is the fourth consecutive year the USRA Nationals have been held at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Grandstands open at 4:30 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with the racing program starting a half-hour earlier on Saturday.

Wednesday will feature USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods competing in qualifying heat races and A features. The top six drivers will be locked into Saturday's championship main event. Hot laps for Hobby Stocks and Tuners also are set for Wednesday.

Thursday's action will find a repeat of Wednesday's format with the USRA Hobby Stocks joining the program. The annual Mel Hambelton Racing Kickball Tournament happens in the morning.

On Friday, the USRA Tuners join the action with another complete show of heat races and main events for each class. Friday will feature a 3-on-3 basketball tournament during the day.

Saturday will see last-chance races and main events for all classes, culminating with championship features in all five divisions. A corn-hole tournament and the annual Promoters Challenge Race and Pit Crew Races will take place at the Go-Kart Slick Track behind the main grandstand.

Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points end Sept. 30 for the five classes competing this weekend. Current national points leaders in the divisions are: Tyler Wolff of Fayetteville, Ark. (USRA Modifieds), Ty Griffith of Blairsburg, Iowa (B-Mods), Josh Cain from Rio Rancho, N.M. (Stock Cars), Michael E. McEachern of Minden, La. (Tuners) and Dustin Gulbrandson from Sioux Falls, S.D. (Hobby Stocks).
