Bicycle donations sought for Lucas Oil Speedway Kids Night at the Races during 4th of July Thursday Night Thunder

WHEATLAND, MO. (June 18, 2024) - New things go better together than kids and bicycles and Lucas Oil Speedway wants to make sure as many youngsters as possible get a shiny new bike for the July 4th holiday.

The annual Casey's Thursday Night Thunder Kids' Night at the Races Presented by State Tech is just over two weeks away. The speedway is asking drivers, sponsors and race fans for help in donation new bicycles for youngsters for the annual giveaway on that special 4th of July program.

Youngsters ages 5 through 12 can sign up at the RCR Designs Jr Fan Club table before intermission for a chance to enter a drawing for the new bicycles of various sizes.

Lucas Oil Speedway general manager Danny Lorton said that it would be nice to have a bicycle for every kid in attendance. He's hoping for at least 100 bikes for the kids to take home that evening. Those interested in helping the cause may do so by bringing a bicycle or cash to the track office during business hours, or bringing a new bicycle to the office prior to this Saturday's Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship program.

Cash donations which will be used for the purchase of bicycles also will be accepted.

“It’s always a highlight of our season when we are able to give away bicycles to the youngsters, especially to those who might not otherwise be able to afford one,” Lorton said. "Our fans, drivers and sponsors always are great in helping us try and reach our goal and I'm sure this year will be no different."

In addition to the racing action in the four Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship Series divisions, the evening will conclude with the area's biggest fireworks display.

For more information, contact the speedway office at (417) 282-5984.

Action resumes this Saturday on Food Drive Night at the Races: Racing action resumes on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway with the O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock cars headlining the Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship Series program, running a 25-lap, $750-to-win feature.
