SMSI Pure Stock Shootout coming to Lucas Oil Speedway, Sept. 22-23

WHEATLAND, MO. (June 21, 2023) - Lucas Oil Speedway will partner with Springfield Mechanical Services Inc. to play host to the 3rd annual SMSI Pure Stock Shootout, which was formerly held at Dallas County Speedway.

The Shootout will take place on Sept. 22-23 in conjunction with the State Tech Fall Brawl featuring the Hermitage Lumber Late Models. The two-day show will be called the State Tech-Hermitage Lumber Late Model Fall Brawl & Springfield Mechanical Service Inc. POWRi Pure Stock Shootout.

“When Scotty Allen closed Dallas County Speedway earlier this year, he reached out to me about picking up the event and got me in contact with Steve Lourenco from Springfield Mechanical Service,” Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. “After visiting with Steve, we have agreed to hold the Pure Stock Shootout and look forward to two big nights of racing.”

Night One on Sept. 23 will see the Pure Stocks racing for $500-to-win and $75-to-start. The winner of the Friday feature will be assured a provisional starting spot in the Saturday feature is the driver does not qualify in Saturday’s preliminaries.

The Saturday Pure Stock feature will pay $1,500-to-win and $300-to-start.

Steve Lourenco of Springfield Mechanical Services said he used to race Pure Stocks and is a fan of the division for the competitive racing it puts on. He cited a recent Pure Stocks feature during a Thursday Night Madness program at Wheatland as an example.

"There never is really any big show for the Pure Stocks," Lourenco said. "I'm really trying to grow this. Some of the best racing you'll see is Pure Stocks."

For the Hermitage Lumber Late Models, Friday’s feature will be $2,000-to-win and $200-to-start before a $4,000-to-win and $400-to-start main event on Saturday night. To be eligible to compete, the drivers must compete in at least four Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series programs during the season.

The Show-Me Vintage Racing Series and American Iron Racing Series (A.I.R.S.) also will be on the program both nights.

Public Safety Appreciation Night this Saturday: All Police, Fire and Rescue personnel will be be admitted free this Saturday night as Lucas Oil Speedway pays tribute to those workers on Public Safety Appreciation Night.

The Cedar Creek Beef Jerky USRA Modifieds will be the featured division for Round 9 of the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series, running a special 25-lap, $1,000-to-win main event. Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, Hermitage Lumber Late Models and O'Reilly Auto Parts Stock Cars also will be in action.
