Look for Lucas Oil Speedway, Lucas Oil MLRA booths at Ozarks Area Racers Reunion on Saturday

WHEATLAND, MO. (Feb. 2, 2023) - It’s time for the biggest off-track gathering of the offseason for Ozarks-area racing fans, where past greats are recognized and the upcoming season comes into focus.

The 35th annual Ozarks Area Racers Foundation Reunion and Hall of Fame ceremony is set for Saturday at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds West E-Plex in Springfield. Lucas Oil Speedway and the Lucas Oil MLRA both will have booths at the event, with information and schedules for the 2023 season available.

“This is always a great time for racing fans from all over the region to gather and talk racing, while honoring some of the greats from this area who contributed so much to the sport," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. "We want to invite everyone to stop by and see us at our booths and say hello, pick up some information or just talk racing."

Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. with dozens of race cars (both modern day and vintage) plus memorabilia on display. An autograph session for the new Hall of Fame inductees is set for 3:30 p.m. along with a question-and-answer session featuring some current drivers and Hall of Famers. The induction ceremony starts at 5 p.m. with area track champions from 2022 invited and will be recognized during the program.

Tickets are $15 in advance at participating area O'Reilly Auto Parts locations and $20 at the door. Kids 12-and-under are free and there will be games and activities for the youngsters.

There are eight new Hall of Fame inductees for 2023, four in the “Legends” category for drivers and four in the “Pioneers” for overall accomplishments on or off the track. Legend inductees will be Ricky Icenhower, Bob Johnson, Randy R. Martin and Perry Vaught; Pioneer inductees include Scotty Allen, Danny Felker, Skip Pope and Larry Robertson.

There are 225 OARF Hall of Famers with their names carved into a 7,600-pound, three-piece granite monument that is on display outside the front entrance of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in Springfield. It's free for viewing, 365 days a year.

For more information, find the Ozarks Area Racers Foundation's Facebook page.

Season openers: Lucas Oil Speedway's schedule begins with an open Test and Tune set for March 18 followed by the Big Adventure Weekly Racing Series Weekly Opener on March 25. The Hermitage Lumber Late Models will be running a special 25-lap $1,000-to-win featured event.
