Lucas Oil Pro Bull Riding Invitational returns to Lucas Oil Speedway this weekend

WHEATLAND, MO. (June 21, 2022) - Instead of the usual motorsports horsepower it will be bucking bullpower on display this weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway as the annual Lucas Oil Pro Bull Riding Invitational Presented by ProtecttheHarvest.com returns Friday and Saturday.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the shows scheduled to start at 7:30 both nights. Approximately 30 Amped Up Pro Bull Tour competitors scheduled to compete.

“We’ll have about 30 riders each day and then we’ll do 10 back to the short round on Saturday,” said Isaiah Dunn of the Amped Up Tour. An overall champion will be named following Saturday’s show with results from all rounds combined. About $20,000 in prize money will be up for grabs, Dunn said.

Kansas bull rider Trey Holston won the Lucas Oil Pro Bull Riding Invitational overall title a year ago with Oklahoman Zane Cook finishing as runner-up.

Dunn said there also will be 10 kids per night riding sheep and five mini riders - 12 and 13 year olds competing on mini bulls - each evening.

“Funny man” entertainer “Pork Chop” also will be on hand to entertain the fans with fireworks scheduled to conclude the action Friday and Saturday.

“They’re gonna see about two hours of action-packed, non-stop excitement,” Dunn said of the show.

Dunn emphasized that the bulls are well-bred, well-maintained athletes who are treated with the utmost care.

“These guys are on a strict-diet, with the best food and best healthcare,” he said of the bulls. “A vet is on sight to take care of any animal that needs care. It’s amazing how far bull riding as a sport has come and how well-treated the animals are.

“They are the second part of the show. It takes both the cowboys and the bulls to put on the show.”
