USRA Modifieds run for extra money and Pure Stocks join the action this Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway

By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- Extra money will be on the line for the Pitts Homes USRA Modified division at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday as the Bolivar Herald-Free Press along with KTTS Presents the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series Mid-Season Championships.

Points leaders in each of the four classes will be recognized, along with the feature winners, after each feature race. The USRA Modifieds will chase a $1,000-to-win prize in a 25-lap feature.

Meanwhile, the Pure Stocks make a special guest appearance on the program after racing twice at the speedway last season. James Redus of Springfield and J.T. Carroll of Camdenton came away with feature wins in those 2019 events.

"The Pure Stocks came out in big numbers last year and showed us they wanted to come back for some more special appearances this season," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said. "They put on a couple of great shows that the fans enjoyed and we look forward to having them again this week.

"It's hard to believe that this week marks the halfway point of the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series. We've had some really good, close racing this year and look forward to more great action while recognizing the mid-season leaders."

Kids Club Pit Tour begins: This week marks the first Frogs Jr Fan Club Kids Pit Tour. Eight lucky kids will get to tour the pits with flagman Mike Striegel to get an up-close look at the cars and drivers. The first of what will be weekly tours will be from 5:15-6 p.m. and then the kids will get to attend the drivers' meeting before going back to the grandstands.

Youngsters ages 5-12 can sign up for the pit tour from 4-5 p.m. next to the gift shop trailer on the south end of the midway. Parents will have to sign a waiver form allowing the kids to go into the pits for the tour.

"We're gonna put them on a limo golf cart and drive them through the pits where they can meet the drivers, see the cars, get autographs on hero cards, or t-shirts or whatever the drivers might have available," Striegel said. "We thought it would be a cool way to get the kids involved."

Striegel said eventually, he hopes the program can expand to one of the eight kids selected each week being able to stay in the pits, hanging out with their favorite driver, until intermission.

Points battles shape up: Robbie Reed of Mexico, Missouri will be looking to extend his 62-point lead over Ryan Middaugh of Fulton in the USRA Modified division. Reed almost pulled off his third feature win of the season last week, but was nipped at the finish by Robert Heydenreich of Bolivar.

The closest points battle is in the Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Model division where three-time reigning champion Johnny Fennewald holds a seven-point lead over Cole Henson of Russellville with Larry Ferris of Nevada 18 behind.

Kris Jackson of Lebanon leads the Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mod points race by 36 over Andy Bryant of Fort Scott, Kansas. Eric Turner of Hermitage trails by 40 and last week's feature winner, JC Morton of Springfield, is 49 behind Jackson.

The O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks finds three-time feature winner Derek Brown of Stoutland 63 in front of Wheatland's Toby Ott and 77 clear of Cody Frazon of Lamonte.

Fans can look in this week's Bolivar Herald-Free Press for discount coupons for tickets.
