Plans finalized for bigger, better "Eve of Destruction" Monster Truck show to cap 2019 Lucas Oil Speedway season

By Lyndal Scranton (WHeatland, MO) -- Lucas Oil Speedway has finalized plans for a bigger, better and spectacular way to cap the 2019 season, with the O'Reilly Auto Parts Outlaw Nationals Monster Truck Show "Eve of Destruction" scheduled for October 19.

"Our fans love Monster Trucks and this year's show is going to be bigger and better than any we've ever done at Lucas Oil Speedway," said Dan Robinson, Director of Racing Operations for Lucas Oil Speedway. "We have a new promoter, MAP Motorsports which is operated by former Lucas Oil Speedway competitor John Darnell. They do a tremendous job and we're excited to partner with them."

Darnell said eight Monster Trucks are scheduled to compete, all of top quality. Included are Avenger, Barbarian, Black Pearl, Bounty Hunter, Twisted Addiction, Scarlet Bandit, Over Bored and Spike.

In addition, "Shockwave" - a triple jet engine-powered Peterbilt with 36,000 horsepower - will put on a fire and smoke show before melting down some cars. Darnell described Shockwave as "a beast." The vehicle is owned by Darnell's father, Neil, and is driven by his brother, Chris, a former weekly racing competitor at the speedway. Visit Shockwavejettruck.com for more information on Shockwave, including photos and videos.

"We also are going to have, for the first time at Lucas Oil Speedway, a Monster Truck Back Flip. People love to see that," Chris Darnell said.

Other highlights of the show will be the Pit Party and Autograph session before the event, with fans getting a chance to take photos with their favorite drivers and trucks; and a Mighty Monster Bus Ride Truck, a chance to strap in and take a ride around the track in a real Monster Truck.

Fans also will be encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costumes and "trick or treat" with all the show performers at the Pit Party. Pit Bull Powersports will have UTV racing as well.

Gates are scheduled to open at 4 p.m. with the Pit Party from 5-6:30 and the program at 7.

Advance discounted tickets will be available at O'Reilly Auto Parts locations beginning approximately Oct. 1, plus at LucasOilSpeedway.com throughout the season.
