Lucas Oil Speedway to be represented at upcoming Chili Cook Off, Man Show and Capitol Mall Racers Show

By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- As the new racing season approaches, fans have several opportunities in coming weeks to interact with staff members of Lucas Oil Speedway, pick up schedules and other info and perhaps even see race cars up close.

Sertoma Chili Cookoff: First up is the 38th annual Sertoma Chili Cook Off on Saturday, February 23 at the Expo Center in downtown Springfield. The Lucas Oil Speedway crew will man booths No. 18 and 19 upstairs and, along with cooking up chili for the competition, flagman Bruce Korte and others will be on hand to meet and greet fans, pass out free season schedules and other giveaways including race tickets.

A special guest in the Lucas Oil Speedway booth that fans can meet will be Sam Shewmaker, a world-ranked bare-knuckle fighter from Gravois Mills. Known as the "Hillbilly Hammer," Shewmaker has a 3-1 bare-knuckle record and is 4-0 as a professional boxer.

The Sertoma Chili Cook Off is annually one of the biggest charity events in southwest Missouri with proceeds benefiting the Springfield Boys' and Girls' Clubs. Advance tickets are $16 at participating Fast n' Friendly and Hy-Vee locations and $20 at the door.

KOZL Man Show: Once again this year, Lucas Oil Speedway will be on hand at the 8th annual KOZL Man Show Expo set for March 15-16 at the Springfield Expo Center. The event is billing as "cooler than a car show and better than a trade show ... two days dedicated to all things man" with wings, beer, BBQ, electronics, hot rods and 4x4s and much more.

Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said he is looking for a race car to display in the track's booth. Anyone interested can contact Lorton at dlorton@lucasoilspeedway.com. Speedway schedules will be available along with other giveaways and a chance to win race tickets.

Capital Mall Racers Show: The final public event before the new season is the Capital Mall Racers Show, March 22-24 in Jefferson City. Once again, Lucas Oil Speedway will have a booth at that event with schedules and giveaways, plus track registration forms for drivers.

Any drivers interested in displaying their car at the Capital Mall show should contact Donna Vail at donna.vail@cbre.com or dvail@capital-res.com.

The 2019 Lucas Oil Speedway season kicks off March 30 with an open test and tune. The Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series begins April 6 with action in all four of the weekly divisions - Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds, Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models and O'Reilly Auto Parts Street Stocks.
