Bryan Hulbert – WHEATLAND, Mo. (September 26, 2018) Blake Hahn went into the 8th annual Hockett/McMillin Memorial with a full head of steam, but a broken wheel center rolling into the third turn during Hahn’s opening Heat Race quickly set the team back.

“I just sat in the car in disbelief, but all we could do is thrash to get the car back together. I was just fortunate we didn’t hit the wall any harder than we did. We just had to come back as best we could, and I feel like we did that for the most part on Friday and Saturday,” commented Hahn, who followed his Thursday misfortune with a pair of ninth-place finishes.

Coming up one spot shy of moving on in the B-Feature, Hahn took a provisional into Thursday’s program where he pulled off early for a 24th place finish. Returning Friday, Hahn earned the eighth starting spot in the A-Feature. Moving into the top-five early on, the right rear sealed over half-way through the race relegating Hahn to a ninth-place finish.

“We just messed up and didn’t sipe the tire enough, but the car was fantastic otherwise.”

Ending up third in a Last Chance Qualifier on Saturday, Hahn slipped back on the start and again found himself having to fight his way through a B-Feature with the team forced to use a provisional once again. Gridding the field 23rd, Blake tore through the running order for a ninth-place finish.

“If a few small things had gone our way, we would have been in contention. We drove away from Sam when he was coming up to lap us, so I know we had a car capable of winning. I think that’s the most frustrating part of the whole weekend, but before we go on another track, we’re going through ever wheel and swapping them out.”

Taking the weekend off from the ASCS car, Blake will take on Champ Sprints at Creek County Speedway for car owner, Jerry McGehee. After that, it’s the COMP Cams Short Track Nationals at I-30 Speedway on October 5 and 6.

The 2018 season is Blake Hahn’s 16th year of racing. Starting in Jr. Sprints at the Tulsa Shootout, Hahn has progressed through the ranks with over 90 victories across Micros, Midgets, and Sprint Cars.
