Inside Line Promotions – HEATH, Texas (Sept. 19, 2018) – Travis Rilat is preparing to make his first visit to Lucas Oil Speedway for a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event in approximately nine years.

The oval in Wheatland, Mo., hosts the 8th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial this Thursday through Saturday. Rilat registered a seventh-place finish during his most recent ASCS National Tour start at the track in September 2009.

“It’s been quite a while since we’ve raced there, but I’m looking forward to the opportunity to get back to Lucas Oil Speedway and race in honor of Jesse Hockett and Daniel McMillin,” he said. “There aren’t many races remaining this season so our goal is to finish the season strong and contend for wins.”

The BDS Motorsports driver enters this weekend ranked ninth in the ASCS National Tour championship standings despite missing a couple of races because of work commitments. He is tied for seventh with six top fives and ranks seventh with 15 top 10s.

“We had some mechanical problems that hindered us throughout the summer and we’ve finally turned the corner,” he said. “You can’t work on improving your car when you’re battling mechanical woes so that put us behind. I think since we’ve got the mechanical side of it figured out we’re making gains on the setups and handling side of it.”

Rilat has earned a top 10 during two of his last three races and he’s moved forward in the feature during each of his last five ASCS National Tour starts.

“The key is to get off to a strong start in the heat race,” he said. “You need to get a good pill draw to start up front or have a great heat race performance and pass a bunch of cars. If you can do that and then get through the qualifier, assuming there are enough cars to have qualifiers this weekend, you can put yourself in a position to race for top fives. When you’re consistently racing for top fives you are putting yourself in position to earn wins.”

SEASON STATS –

35 races, 0 wins, 8 top fives, 20 top 10s, 26 top 15s, 27 top 20s
