Kansas City Off Road Racing Association returns to Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday

By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- Off Road Racing fans have a chance to get another taste of the jumps and side-by-side action on Saturday when the Kansas City Off Road Racing Association returns to the Lucas Oil Speedway course for the second time this season.

Action fires up with practice at 10 a.m. and the first round of racing at approximately noon. Race classes will include 170 kids UTV, 1000 UTV, Unlimited/Turbo UTV, 1600 limited Buggy, Super Buggy, Formula 4X4 and Mini Stock/Bro Lite trucks.

Fans purchasing off road tickets will be admitted free to Saturday night's Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series on the dirt track next door.

Scott Morrow founded the Kansas City Off Road Racing Association to bring short-course racing to this part of the country.

"We started off trying to draw in the buggy classes and the UTV classes," Morrow said. "Two years ago, we started a youth class, the Razor 170s. This year, we're hoping to have two buggy and two truck classes. The mini-stock trucks, which are basically 4-cylinder, 2-wheel drive are kind of new to the area.

"It has developed into four classes of UTVs and we're working on growing it for the area."

The KCORRA first appeared at Lucas Oil Speedway back in May. This is the fourth of seven events on the organization's schedule in 2018 with two races at Overbrook, Kansas, and one at Paola, Kansas, remaining.

At the dirt track: OnMedia/DISH/DirecTV present the dirt-track action in the usual four classes, plus it will be Ozarks Food Harvest Night. The Big O Tires Street Stocks will be the featured class, running a special 25-lap, $750-to-win main event.

Championship chases will resume in all four classes.
