Inside Line Promotions – WHEATLAND, Mo. (Sept. 26, 2017) – Harli White is taking home some special hardware from the 7th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial, which was held last weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway.

White garnered the Hard Charger Award on Saturday during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event finale and her crew chief, Ryan Beechler, was honored with the Crew Chief Award.

“That was really neat for us to receive those awards,” White said. “It’s huge for our team moving forward.”

The weekend was anything but smooth for White, who started off strong by charging from fourth place to win a heat race on Thursday. She then ended seventh in a qualifier and fifth in a B Main.

“The qualifiers are tough,” she said. “I got a good start, but got balled up in the middle of the track. We all fell into line and that’s where we finished. In the B Main our car wasn’t as good as it needed to be, but I was right there in contention for a transfer. Going into turn four on the last lap I threw a monster slider and had the guy cleared. There was nothing to hold you on the exit of turn four. I went too far up the track and he was able to cross underneath me.”

White took a provisional to start the A Main at the back of the pack. She advanced a handful of positions to finish 20th.

Friday’s preliminary night was similar as White ended fourth in a heat race, fifth in a qualifier and fourth in a B Main. She again used a provisional and finished the main event 20th.

The team had to switch cars and engines during the weekend and headed into Saturday searching for momentum. White finished seventh in a qualifier before she advanced from 10th to fifth place in a B Main to once again narrowly miss transferring into the main event.

“We tried some different things on Saturday and had to use a provisional again,” she said. “We had nothing to lose and wanted to learn. We had a really good car and I was able to get by some people early in the A Main. We definitely made strides.”

White powered from 23rd to a 15th-place finish to earn the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

“As a driver it’s huge,” she said. “I feel comfortable in the car to trust it. I know our equipment is right. I think now it’s up to me to stay up on the wheel and be consistent and I think a night like Saturday will propel me moving forward.”

White is slated to compete this Saturday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., for the Midwest Fall Brawl with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
