USMTS this Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway

By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- The stars of the United States Modified Touring Series make their lone appearance of the season at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday night for the 8th annual USMTS Slick Mist Show-Me Shootout Presented by Foley Equipment.

The nation's premier Modified drivers make Lucas Oil Speedway stop No. 3 on the 24-event Hunt for the Casey's Cup with the feature winner earning $3,000. Also in action will be the Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods and Big O Tires Street Stocks.

"It's always one of our biggest events of the season when the USMTS visits and this year's event is no exception," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. "These guys are the best in the business and put on a great show. Mix in the B-Mods and Street Stocks and it's going to be a tremendous program."

Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon, Iowa captured last year's Show-Me Shootout over Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa. Gustin recently won the 7th annual Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80 Speedway in Nebraska, taking home $10,000.

At the conclusion of The Hunt on Sept. 21, following the first night of the 19th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree, the 2017 USMTS national champion will be crowned and earn $26,000 for his or her efforts.

Jason Hughes, third in last year's Show-Me Shootout, went on to capture the 2016 Hunt for the Casey's Cup national title.

Along with the USMTS standouts, a strong cast of local favorites in the Lucas Oil Speedway Pitts Homes USRA Modified division are expected. There will be two track provisional starting spots in the feature available to Lucas Oil Speedway weekly drivers who don't otherwise qualify for the main event.

Jenna Brown of Ozarks Food Harvest said that will provide 6,510 meals to those in a 28-county area of southwest Missouri.

"We're pleased that we were able to provide a platform to help out the Ozarks Food Harvest and our neighbors throughout the Ozarks," Robinson said. "It's gratifying to see how our fans came through once again and we thank them."
