Lucas Oil Speedway resumes weekly program this Saturday

By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- The Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series kicks off a busy stretch in the Lucas Oil Speedway spotlight this Saturday as midseason champions will be decided. There's plenty of intrigue with compelling points chases in all four divisions.

The Bolivar Herald Free-Press Presents the Midseason Championship program with action set in the Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models, Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds, the Big O Tires Street Stocks and the Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods. The Street Stocks will be running a special 25-lap, $500 to win main event.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:35. The program is sponsored by the Bolivar Herald-Free Press. Look for $5 discount admission coupons to the races in this week's edition.

"Our weekly racers are our backbone of what we do and we appreciate those guys," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. "It should be a terrific program this Saturday with the championships at stake in all four classes and it's going to be a fun stretch of races coming up for the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series before our next big special, the Lucas Oil Late Model Diamond Nationals (July 15)."

The closest midseason championship race is in the Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods where Andy Bryant of Fort Scott, Kan., holds a narrow four-point lead over Shawn Strong of Republic. Going into the special, $500-to-win feature, Kaeden Cornell of Willard is lurking just 38 points behind Bryant.

Meanwhile, in the Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models, Aaron Poe of Warrensburg is 11 points in front of defending track champion Aaron Marrant of Richmond. Races also are tight in the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds as three-time defending track champion Jeff Cutshaw of Bolivar leads Hermitage's Jason Pursley by 31 points and in the Big O Tires Street Stocks where Wheatland's Toby Ott is 39 points clear of clear of Camdenton's Kenny Carroll.

Extra money is on the line. The popular Victory Lane "Track Action Race Review" weekly magazine distributed throughout the season at Lucas Oil Speedway is helping boost the bonus for midseason track champions. The "Geared Up Program" will reward Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series midseason champs with a $1,000 donation from Victory Lane to be split among the four points leaders.

In addition, Lucas Oil Speedway is matching that $1,000 total of bonus money so the leaders in each of the divisions will receive a $500 bonus.

"We want to thank Debra Filkins with Victory Lane and we wanted to match her generosity as a way of showing appreciation to our weekly drivers," Robinson said. "We know drivers and fans have choices of where to race and watch the races and we want them to know we appreciate them and look forward to seeing them over the next several weeks during this busy stretch."

Following this week's action, a special Thursday Night Thunder is set for June 29. Along with kicking off the second half of the Weekly Racing Series season, it's KY3 for Kids Night with a Bicycle Giveaway for youngsters and a huge fireworks program following the races.

Anyone interested in donating a new bicycle can drop it off at the speedway office during weekday business hours, at the office prior to Saturday's races or contact assistant General Manager Danny Lorton via email at DLorton@lucasoilspeedway.com.

Then on July 8 is Veterans and Military Appreciation Night Presented by the Springfield News-Leader Media Group. All veterans and active military, with ID, will be admitted free. In conjunction with the races that night is the Inaugural "Red White Blue & Que" professional barbecue event with fans invited to sample BBQ prior to the races, with proceeds going toward http://www.TheWarriorsJourney.org, a Ozarks-based organization that offers help to military veterans and their families. Go to http://www.RedWhiteBlueQ.com for more info on the barbecue event.

Robinson also noted out some other things for drivers to keep in mind as the season progresses:

Harley giveaway: The Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series drivers finishing in the top 10 of points at season's end will qualify for the third annual drawing for a Harley-Davidson Roadster from Lawless Harley-Davidson.

Drivers receive entries into the raffle for each feature win in the 2017 Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series up to and including the Season Championship Night on Aug. 26. Drivers also receive entries into the raffle based on their finishing position in top-10 in the final season points standings.

Big Buck bonus: Street Stock drivers are reminded that if they enter a minimum of 80% of the Street Stock points races during the 2017 Lucas Oil Speedway season, their entry fee for the Oct. 6-7 Big Buck 50 will be waived. There also will be track provisionals to the two highest-finishing Street Stocks points racers that do not qualify for the main event.

Corvette Club this week: In addition to this week's racing action, the Lake of the Ozarks Corvette Club will be displaying cars on the midway.

Adults (16 and up) $12
Seniors (62 and up)/Military $9
