DAUM, WEYANT, & BABB SOAR AT ROCKET'S MEMORIAL

Wheatland, MO - Zach Daum picked up the win Thursday night while Korey Weyant won Friday's WAR Series race at Lucas Oil Speedway. Terry Babb took Saturday's Finale Victory.

In Thursday's race, Layne Himebaugh set the pace early as he was trailed by Weyant. Weyant would work his way past Himebaugh on lap three as Daum had a good battle with Himebaugh for the second spot. Daum would get past Himebaugh, but could not make up ground on Weyant. When a caution came out for Danny Smith, who lost his hood, this was the break that Daum needed. He made the winning move on lap seventeen and would go on to a comfortable win in his Daum Crop Insurance/Bell Helmets/Wick Oil Chevy-powered DRC.

Weyant would come home second in his Ealey Transportation/ Mahan's Fiberglass/ Moore Automotive Eagle with Automotive Machine power. Behind the lead duo, a large group of drivers swapped positions in a battle for third with Clinton Boyles grabbing the spot at the finish in his Rockwell Security/Jesse Hockett Racing #98. Boyles was driving this car in honor of his grandpa, who had used that number. Wyatt Burks made some late moves to secure fourth in his IMI/Sleeper Excavating/Bindery Express/Jadon's Hope Foundation Maxim with a Felker 410 under the hood. Rounding out the top five was Terry Babb in the KCBJ Motorsports/Faith Flatout Ministries Maxim with a Stanton-All Pro motor. Katlynn Leer, who at one point was up to third, would finish sixth as she was followed by Anthony Nicholson, Layne Himebaugh, twentieth-starting Craig Carroll, and Taylor Walton.

Fridyay night of the Hockett/McMillin Memorial would see Korey Weyant drive to his fifth win of 2016. Weyant fell back early, but would pick cars off lap by lap.Once he made the pass of leader Rob Caho Jr, he went on to a convincing win in his #99. Derek Hagar would finish second in the DKM Motorsports/Finish Line Collision Repair/Red Onion Lounge Maxim with Jim Cameron-Mopar power under the hood. Clinton Boyles, back in his familiar #77 would move to third from eleventh. Kyle Clark was a strong fourth in his Same Day Tire and Auto Twister with DSO power. Craig Carroll was fifth in the Risley's Trash Service/ Get-Er-Done Tree Service/ Hesselbein Tire XXX with Risley power under the hood. Caho Jr. was sixth as he was followed by Terry Babb from seventeenth, JD Black, Layne Himebaugh, and Wyatt Burks.

Ryan Kitchen had a rough two nights as he got upside down on Thursday night. After getting the car repaired for Friday, Kitchen hit the wall in turn four hard and turned over on his side early in the A-Main. Kitchen's night would be finished.

Thursday night's winner Zach Daum was running second in his heat and was moving to the top of Michelle Decker when Decker's car bicycled. This left Daum with no place to go as he crashed hard into the turn three wall severely damaging his car and ending his evening. Decker also would see her night come to a close.

David Stephenson spun in turn four leaving Chad Goff with nowhere to go. Both cars suffered heavy damage in the collision. Bailey Elliott got upside down in his B Main ending his evening. Other drivers who suffered problems Friday night were Warren Johnson and Ned Powers with motor issues.

After using their heat race, B-Main, and A-Main finishes to determine points, the top six locked into Saturday night's finale were: Weyant, Boyles, Babb, Burks, Carroll, and Himebaugh.

Saturday night's event proved to be an exciting finale to the three-day weekend. Beating polesitter Layne Himebaugh into turn one, Terry Babb assumed command and went on to his fourth Boss Chassis WAR Series win at Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday night.

Babb took the lead as Himebaugh ran the bottom early on in second to keep pace. Just behind the lead duo were Clinton Boyles and Korey Weyant. The caution would come out on lap four for Zach Chappell who got into the wall in turn three. His night would be finished. Boyles and Weyant would move past Himebaugh with Boyles making a bid for the top spot. Boyles put a slidejob on Babb, but the Decatur, IL spot responded with a perfect crossover move to keep the lead.

A torrid battle ensued for the second spot. Weyant would slide Boyles, but Boyles would turn back underneath Weyant to keep the position. With nine laps down, Weyant would again exchange slide jobs with Boyles keeping the spot.

By lap ten, Boyles had moved back into contention for the lead. He again put a slide job on Babb, but Babb would crossover and keep the position. The yellow came out for Riley Kreisel in turn two at the race's halfway point.

On the restart, Weyant would use a slide job in turns one and two to try and move into the second spot. Boyles, on the brakes, would hit the back end of Weyant knocking the nose piece off of his car and bringing out the yellow flag as both drivers continued.

Babb would continue to lead as he was followed by Boyles and Weyant. Just behind them, Wyatt Burks moved into the fourth spot as he pressured Boyles and Weyant for second, battling three wide for position. By lap twenty, Weyant had moved into the second position as he was followed by Boyles and Burks. On lap twenty-three, Himebaugh would spin in turn two bringing out the caution.

On the restart, Burks would get a great restart to move into second.
Weyant put a slider on Burks, but Burks would respond and move back into second. With five laps left, Weyant's charge would suffer a setback as he did a 360 coming off of turn two. Drivers were able to avoid him, but he would fall back to eighth as he miraculously kept the car running.

Boyles would get back by Burks for second. Burks used a slide job to try and move into second, but contact between he and Clinton Boyles sent the Topeka, KS driver into a spin. Burks would perform a 360 and continue on, but he had lost several positions.

At the end of the action-packed thirty laps, Babb picked up the win in his KCBJ Motorsports/Faith Flatout Ministries Maxim with Stanton-All Pro power. Boyles would run second in the Jesse Hockett Racing/Lucas Oil/Rockwell Security Maxim with RMS power. Boyles also clinched the 2016 WAR Series title with one race left.

Morton would come home third, but he would later be disqualified for being underweight at the scales. This would move Weyant into the third spot in his Ealey Transportation/Moore Automotive/Mahan's Fiberglass Eagle with Automotive Machine power. Zach Daum advanced twelve positions in his Randy Martin #14 with Derek Hagar rounding out the top five in the DKM Motorsports #75K. Burks would end up sixth followed by JD Black and Kyle Clark. Kreisel would rebound and came back to ninth with Craig Carroll rounding out the top ten.

The Boss Chassis WAR Series will next be in action on Saturday October 8 for the season finale at the I-35 Speedway in Winston, MO.
