PROBLEM CHILD REPEATS AT DIAMOND DRAG BOAT NATIONALS

Wheatland, MO - After much needed rain fell across the Ozarks, Sunday the skies parted and gave way for a beautiful day of Drag Boat Racing on Lake Lucas. Final Eliminations of the Canidae All Natural Pet Foods 2nd Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals presented by Lucas Oil brought out the Nation's top competitors in 12 classes. More than 100 boats filled the pit area for a long weekend of racing. Fans enjoyed great food from local vendors, displays, fun games and attractions for the kids and the extreme speeds of the baddest boats on water.  

2011 Inaugural Diamond Drag Boat Nationals Top Fuel Hydro Champion, Daryl Ehrlich started the day with some fireworks. "Problem Child" soared down Lake Lucas to win the first round before catching fire. Rescue crews had to sink the TFH in order to put out the flames. The "Problem Child" team rallied and rebuilt the boat in time for the final pass to end the event on Lake Lucas.  

The Final Elimination in TFH paired "Problem Child" against "Speed Sport Special" piloted by Jarret Silvey (Boat Owner: Lou Osman). At the launch "Problem Child" flew down Lake Lucas at 246 MPH. "Speed Sport Special" experienced a mechanical problem and suddenly dove down into the Lake just in front of the starting barge. Jarret Silvey was removed safely from the boat, ending his day as the Runner-Up. "Problem Child's" win did not come without a little drama in true Ehrlich style. After making the 246 MPH pass for the win, a mechanical failure sent the TFH onto the banks of Lake Lucas. Ehrlich also exited the boat unharmed.
