SLICK MIST LATE MODEL SEASON OPENER
If the opening race in the Slick Mist Late Model class is any indication of the season to come, you can ad sibling rivalry to the list of attributes to this weekly series.
J.D. and Evan Hubert were the class of the field tonight at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks as they thrilled the fans with an extremely tight one two finish. Evan started 8th but made quick work of the field setting his sights on leader and brother J.D.
What followed were 15 gut-wrenching laps as they went toe to toe. J.D. was able to hold Evan off for the win but by less then a car length. Toby Ott in the 27ott car joined the two in the Lucas Oil Speedway Winner’s Circle.
Kevin Kaiser in the 40 came from mid pack to finish fourth. Last season’s rookie of the year Jake Williams in the 72w took the fifth place finish. Matt Menzie, Tommy Cordray, Robbie Test, Harlen Kennedy and John Fellers rounded out the top 10.
Kevin Kaiser announced this season that he will give a portion of all his winnings this year towards the fight against Cancer. Not only that but for $5 you can sign his car and all, of the signature proceeds, go to same cause.
“I just want to give something back this season,” said Kaiser before the race, “I think of a better cause, and if you sign the car, it’s like riding along with us for the season.”
Next event for the Slick Mist Late Model Class will be next Saturday, May 2, 2009 for more information log on to LucasOilSpeedway.com
