GREAT NIGHT TO RACE
Even though rain seemed to threaten the speedway all day, Saturday Night ended being an absolute beautiful evening to go racing. That is what nearly 4,000 fans did at the KDKD Radio FM night at the races this past weekend.
“It was just about perfect in every aspect,” said Kevin Greven, General Track Manager, “From the weather to the car count, from the attendance to the action on the track.”
Speaking of on the track, the Transport Graphics Factory Stocks were first out the chute and as always got the night rolling in high gear. James Flood started 5th and took his Hugger Orange 42 to the front for his second straight win. Chris Darnell and last year’s class champ Keith Webster joined Flood in the AAA Winner’s Circle.
Troy Reasoner JR, Mark Selsor, Randy Lebow, Randy Gilmore, Allen Thompson, Ken Hicks, and Kevin Crider rounded out the top 10. Tonight’s hard charger was last week’s hard luck driver Al Thompson. Last week Thompson was involved in a racing accident and was unable to finish. This week he started 15th and put his number 15 Camaro firmly in the top 10.
Justin Bodenhammer took his first win this season at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks in the Miller Lite ULMA Late Models. Bodenhammer held off Jake Williams and James Rutledge for the win. Kevin Kaiser, Brian Allison, Javan Payne, Andy Kennedy, Ryan Long, Harlen Kennedy, and Brett Wood were your top 10 respectively.
In the Pitt’s Homes “A” Mod is was a Eric Turner on the podium in the AAA Winner’s Circle tonight. Jason Bodenhammer returned for his second visit of the evening in second and Johnny Fennewald joined the duo in third. Rex Merritt, Mitch Keeter, Jeff Cutshaw, Jamie Ragland, Jason Pursley, Scott Drake and Curtis Allen Jr. make your top 10 on the night. Mitch Keeter from Joplin, MO was our hard charger coming from 15th to 5th in another great “A” Mod feature race.
Finally we finished the evening with the Legend Cars presented by Chester’s Chicken. David Comer from Joplin took the win with David Bauer and Kaleb Copher both from Web City, MO joining him in the AAA Winner’s Circle. The trio spent nearly an hour there signing autographs, answering questions and swapping race stories with fans.
This Saturday, July 19th, it’s the CMH Late Model Showdown featuring the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Touring Series in their second and final appearance this season. Also in action with the Lucas boys will be the top drivers from the O’Reilly MLRA plus a Pitt’s Homes “A” Modified Event”
“Last season this race had the highest attendance numbers of any event on the 2007 schedule,” added Greven. “I predict this year will be more of the same.”
